Short Description:

The aim of this BST Module is to administer safe and effective First Aid in the wind turbine industry/ WTG environment, in accordance with GWO First Aid training through theoretical and practical training.

Full Description:

The aim of this module is to enable participants, through theoretical and practical training, to recognise signs and symptoms of life threating situations and administer safe and effective first aid in the wind turbine industry/WTG environment to save lives and prevent further injury, until the casualty can be handed over to the next level of care.

Lessons include:

LIFESAVING FIRST AID USING PRIMARY SURVEY AND THE FIRST AID STRUCTURE - The aim of this lesson is to enable the participants to recognise signs and symptoms of life threating situations and save lives and preventing injury to the casualty by being able to use primary survey to provide the correct and effective lifesaving first aid in case of an emergency situation in the wind industry.

Additionally, this lesson is to enable the participants to manage an incident and call for help in a wind turbine environment and enable evacuation of the casualty(s) off the turbine in order to save lives.

PROVIDING FIRST AID TO RELEVANT INCIDENTS IN THE WIND INDUSTRY - The aim of this lesson is to enable the participants to provide the correct and effective first aid in case of relevant incidents where a wind turbine technician needs to be able to provide basic first aid in the wind industry in order to save lives and prevent further injury.

SCENARIO-BASED TRAINING - The aim of this lesson is to enable the participants to assess, assist and provide the correct lifesaving basic first aid in an incident in the wind industry.

Duration: 8 Hours. 

Prerequisites: Delegates shall create a personal Delegate profile in WINDA and provide their own WINDA ID prior to completing the BST training. All personnel participating in Basic Safety Training shall be medically fit and capable of fully participating.
