Proficiency in Security Awareness NMCI TS
The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (or STCW), 1995 sets qualification standards for masters, officers and watch personnal on seagoing merchant ships.
The STCW 95 course and modules form part of the statutory requirements for both deck and engineering qualification. It is a globally recognised qualification for working afloat on fishing vessels over 24m and on merchant vessels of over 500GT.

STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness
Health, Safety & Security, STCW 2010 Approved Maritime Training
STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness (MSA) is designed to provide those on board merchant vessels who do not have designated security duties with the essential MSA training which meets the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements as set out in the STCW Code.
MSA training must be undertaken by all seafarers employed or engaged in any capacity on board any ship which is required to comply with the ISPS Code.
The course provides both a theoretical mixture of training including:
The ISPS Code
Recognise security threats
Maritime security definitions
Security roles and responsibilities
Company and ship security requirements
Security threat levels
Security measures and procedures
Upon successful completion of the course, all candidates are issued with an STCW approved Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness certificate.
Required Qualifications
There are no formal entry requirements for STCW Proficiency in Maritime Security Awareness.
